   |   Press Release

Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to welcome Cécile Martin as the third partner in the firm’s Paris office just one year after its opening. Martin joins the firm from Proskauer, where she was Special international labor and employment counsel.

Martin has practiced law in Paris for nearly 18 years and began her career as in-house counsel for the French Data Protection Regulator (CNIL). In this role, Martin advised on data protection law, inspected companies to ensure compliance with the law, conducted seminars on data protection law, and more.

“Cécile’s data privacy experience, as well as her commitment to client service, will benefit our clients in France and around the world,” said Karine Audouze, Managing Partner of Ogletree Deakins’ Paris office. “We couldn’t be more excited for her to join the firm.”

As a labor and employment attorney, Martin regularly advises clients and litigates issues related to employee monitoring, social media, compliance of global personal data policies, IT policies, whistleblowing systems, implementing international data transfers, data leaks from employees, and many other issues arising around privacy law. She also advises and litigates on behalf of her clients on various labor and employment matters, such as terminations and negotiations of settlement agreements, discrimination and harassment claims, restrictive covenants, mass redundancies plans and restructurings.

Martin is a member of the European Advisory Board of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). She was previously co-chair of the KnowledgeNet of the IAPP for France. She is also a lecturer in data privacy and regularly provides training to companies regarding the compliance with the GDPR. She was ranked as a Leading Individual in Labor and Employment by Chambers Europe in 2017. Martin earned her Master in Labor and Corporate Law, as well as her Master 2 in Labor and Health Law – with honors, from the University Paris XI.
